The retro Parker Knoll rocking chairs have been a popular chair to restore over the last few months. We have just finished another one, which was another bespoke order for a new client who found us through our Instagram account. After discussing fabric options, they chose the stunning House of Hackney 'Palmeral' palm print for the new cover. This is a fabric the client had fallen in love with and we both agreed would look fantastic on the rocker teamed with the dark wood colour.
We also made up a scatter cushion using the left over fabric, which would look great either placed on the rocking chair, or on a sofa / bed in the same room as the chair to tie the interior scheme together.

PALMERAL from HOUSE OF HACKNEY
Palmeral is an Art Deco inspired patio print featuring an explosion of palm leaves reminiscent of 1930s Palm Springs. The print pays homage to Loddiges, one of the world’s largest palm houses based in Hackney during the Georgian period, once a Mecca for tropical plants, it was the original inspiration for many of the species at Kew Gardens today. Bring the outdoors into your home with this fresh foliage print in Midnight / Green colourway. View the fabric online here.
This original 1970's retro rocking chair, originally manufactured by Parker Knoll has been fully restored and reupholstered by us, in a bespoke choice of fabric for one of our clients who found us via Instagram!
Our client wanted a neutral colour fabric as the chair was going into a nursery. We sent the client a selection of coloured fabric swatches to try at home and to choose from, and they decided on Romo's Linara in Eucalyptus grey.
The final fabric selection works so well with the frame colour which was kept as the natural beech wood tone. The Linara fabric has a peachy brushed appearance to it, and looks so soft and inviting. I am sure this chair will be used and cherished for a long time.

I loved this yellow marl wool so much when I used it on a vintage armchair earlier this year, that I knew I had to use it again on something else. Along came a couple of retro Parker Knoll rocking chairs and I knew that I would use the yellow wool on one of those.
We have completely restored this Parker Knoll rocking chair, bringing it back up to date using a UK pure new felted wool.
The original beech wood frame has been refinished to a warm walnut tone, with a slight sheen - which complements the colour of the mustard yellow wool. The wool itself has a marl effect with grey strands running through it, which tones down the overall effect.
This chair is just so comfortable and those sweeping rockers provide the ultimate rocking motion. I could easily lose a few hours in this chair to a good book, or a snooze. It's compact size makes it perfect for the lounge, bedroom or even a nursery.
